Good evening and Happy Superbowl Day, Falcon Family! This is Ebenezer Lancerio, principal of Central Wilkes Middle School, with announcements covering various school events.
1. Track and Field Tryout Dates
Track and field tryout dates are still Tuesday, February 20th and Wednesday, February 21st, but they will now be held at Wilkes Central High School from 5:00-6:15pm. There will be an interest meeting tomorrow at 8am for students looking to find out more information. Family ID and a sports physical is required to try out.
2. Baseball/Softball Tryouts
Pending inclement weather, baseball and softball open practice will be held after school tomorrow, Monday, February 12th from 4:00-6:00, and tryouts will be held on Thursday, February 15th and Friday, February 16th from 3:30-6:00pm. Please note that Friday, February 16th is now an early release day, so your child has the option to return home and come back to school for tryouts, or to stay after school for tryouts. Family ID and a sports physical is required to try out. Good luck to all athletes
3. 8th Grade Promotion
8th grade families, 8th grade promotion will be held on Tuesday, June 4th at 8:30am in the Central Wilkes Middle School gym. Save the date if you would like to see your child’s 8th grade graduation ceremony!
4. Schedule this week
Please note that this Friday is an early dismissal day. Students will be dismissed at 1:00pm. There is no school the following Monday, February 19th in observance of a teacher workday.
5. 8th Grade Field Trip
Attention 8th Grade Parents: 8th grade students will be going on a field trip to Greensboro this coming week. The Trivette Team will go on Tuesday, February 13th and the York Team will go on Wednesday, February 14th. Students will need to arrive at school at the regular time. Breakfast is provided at school per usual and students should make their way through the breakfast line when they arrive & straight to homeroom. Students will depart from CWMS promptly at 8:00 a.m. and will return to CWMS by 6:00 p.m. Students will need to be picked up after the trip in the 7th/8th grade carline. Please remember to use the traffic snake in the front to ensure traffic doesn’t become congested at the stoplight in front of the school. Students will be able to call home using their phones when we are 20-30 minutes away. Teachers will also send a message out on the PBIS app. A letter of reminders n& details was sent home on Friday. ¡Buenas tardes familia Falcón! Soy Ebenezer Lancerio, director de Central Wilkes Middle School, con sus anuncios semanales cubriendo eventos.
1. Fechas de pruebas de atletismo
Las fechas de las pruebas de atletismo siguen siendo el martes, el 20 de febrero y el miércoles, el 21 de febrero, pero ahora se llevarán a cabo en Wilkes Central High School desde las 5:00 a 6:15 p.m. Habrá una reunión de interés mañana a las 8 am para los estudiantes que deseen obtener más información. Se requiere identificación familiar y un examen físico deportivo para realizar la prueba.
2. Pruebas de béisbol/sóftbol
Las prácticas abiertas de béisbol y softbol se llevarán a cabo después de clases mañana, lunes 12 de febrero de 4:00 a 6:00, y las pruebas se llevarán a cabo el jueves 15 de febrero y el viernes 16 de febrero de 3:30 a 6:00pm. Tenga en cuenta que el viernes 16 de febrero es ahora un día de salida temprana, por lo que su hijo tiene la opción de regresar a casa y regresar a la escuela para las pruebas, o quedarse después de la escuela para las pruebas. Se requiere FAMILY ID y un examen físico deportivo para realizar la prueba.

3. Promoción de octavo grado
Familias de 8º grado, la promoción de 8º grado se llevará a cabo el martes 4 de junio a las 8:30 am en el gimnasio de Central Wilkes Middle School. ¡Reserve la fecha si desea ver la ceremonia de graduación de octavo grado de su hijo/a!
4. Horario esta semana
Tenga en cuenta que este viernes es un día de salida temprana. Los estudiantes saldrán a la 1:00pm. No habrá clases el siguiente lunes, el 19 de febrero en cumplimiento de un día laboral para los maestros.
5. Excursión de octavo grado
Atención padres de octavo grado: los estudiantes de octavo grado realizarán una excursión a Greensboro la próxima semana. El equipo Trivette irá el martes 13 de febrero y el equipo York irá el miércoles 14 de febrero. Los estudiantes deberán llegar a la escuela a la hora habitual. El desayuno se proporciona en la escuela como de costumbre y los estudiantes deben pasar por la fila del desayuno cuando lleguen y directamente al salón de clases. Los estudiantes saldrán de CWMS puntualmente a las 8:00 a. m. y regresarán a CWMS a las 6:00 p. m. Los estudiantes deberán ser recogidos después del viaje en la línea de automóviles de 7º/8º grado. Recuerde usar la serpiente de tránsito en el frente para garantizar que el tráfico no se congestione en el semáforo frente a la escuela. Los estudiantes podrán llamar a casa usando sus teléfonos cuando estemos a 20 o 30 minutos de distancia. Los maestros también enviarán un mensaje en la aplicación PBIS. El viernes se envió a casa una carta con recordatorios y detalles. Si tiene alguna pregunta, comuníquese con el salón de clases de su hijo.
