Good evening and Happy New Year, Falcon Family. This is Ebenezer Lancerio, the proud principal of Central Wilkes Middle School, with announcements covering various school events. First and foremost, I am excited to welcome you back to our school after a long winter break.
School Resumes Tomorrow, 1/06/2026 - New
School will resume tomorrow, January 5th on a normal schedule. See you soon!
Q2 PBIS Rewards Trip - New
If eligible, all students across all grade levels will be going to Bo's Entertainment for our Q2 PBIS Rewards Trip the week of January 12th. Students will be at Bo's between 10:30 to 3pm. Students are eligible to go if they passed 5/7 classes (the two failed classes cannot be Math and English), have no ODRs, and have less than 3 unexcused absences. Permission slips will be going home later this week and will be due by Tuesday, January 13th. The criteria cut off date is Wednesday, January 7th which means that students must be eligible by this date to attend the trip, and must maintain eligibility to be able to go on the trip. Students must maintain eligibility after they have paid in order to ensure their spot on the field trip. Please see the permission slip going home later this week for more details.
Red Cross Blood Drive 1/23/26 - New
We are hosting our annual blood drive, scheduled for Friday, January 23rd from 2:30-7:30pm. More information will be going home with your child this week. Please sign up and consider donating blood for the multitude of Americans that are in need!
Inclement Weather Protocols
Winter is here, and with it a potential for inclement weather days. Please see our inclement weather protocols. Here are some key points from the weather protocols:
There are two kinds of inclement weather days - Remote Learning Days and No School Days. Please be sure to double check the language used for the specific day assigned to an inclement weather day to ensure you know the protocol.
No School Days mean that your child does not have to complete homework on that day and they are not supposed to check in for attendance purposes. This day is treated like a Holiday.
Remote Learning Days mean that your child has to complete remote learning day activities and check in via email, Remind, or Zoom in order to be counted present for that day.
On a two hour delay, your child’s bus will arrive two hours late.
Every effort will be made to make the call the day before, but this may not always be possible.
There is an extensive process for making the call to modify or cancel a school day. The entire process is outlined in the letter attached to this email.
YMCA ACCESS Tutoring Program
Does your child need help in their classes? YMCA Access Academy, a FREE tutoring program, is partnering with CWMS to help! We will have some of our own certified teachers providing tutoring instruction. Printed applications are available at the school.
