Merlefest Outreach Assembly this Thursday -New
All Central Wilkes Middle School Falcons will be participating in a Merlefest Outreach assembly this Thursday, April 23rd. A band that is playing at Merlefest, Sister Sadie, will be performing at Central Wilkes Middle School during the assembly. We will run a modified schedule this day. Please reach out to your homeroom teacher if you have any information on the modified schedule.
7th Grade Biltmore Trip Update - New
Parents/Guardians of 7th graders going on the Biltmore Field Trip, Tuesday April 21st - Your student should have received a letter on Friday detailing rules and reminders. Please remember to arrive at school at 5:30am and drop off in the 6th grade carline. We plan to return by 4:30-5. We will send out a Remind message 30 minutes prior to our return. The letter is posted at the bottom of these announcements.
8th Grade Night / Baseball/Softball Game v Forbush tomorrow, 4/20 - New
Our next home Baseball and Softball games of the season and 8th grade night are at Central Wilkes Middle School tomorrow, Monday, 4/20 starting at 4pm against Forbush Middle School. Here are a few reminders for spectators:
Please be sure to pay $6 per attendee at the gate when entering by car.
Students who attend the game must attend with a trusted adult. Any student who is asked to identify a trusted adult that is found to not have one may be asked to not return to any other games for the remainder of the season.
Track meet at WCHS on Tuesday, 4/21 at 4:30pm -New
Our final HOME track and field meet of the season will be this Tuesday at 4:30pm at WCHS. Good luck to all of our athletes! All of the CWMS rules mentioned in the post above apply.
PTSO Meeting now on May 6th, 2026 at 5:15pm -New
Our next and final PTSO meeting of the year will be on May 6th at 5:15pm in the CWMS Media Center. We will be discussing ways to volunteer, as well as plans for the following year.
Tutors Needed between 7:45am and 8:30am
We need you for our morning academic intervention and enrichment program! We are seeking parent and community volunteers to serve as tutors for students who need additional targeted support in Reading, Math, and social/emotional development. Tutors will work with small groups of students to reinforce grade-level skills, build confidence, and strengthen foundational math, literacy, and social skills. YMCA ACCESS Tutoring Program
Does your child need help in their classes? YMCA Access Academy, a FREE tutoring program, is partnering with CWMS to help! We will have some of our own certified teachers providing tutoring instruction. Printed applications are available at the school.

Biltmore House Field Trip: Rules & Reminders - Tuesday, April 21, 2026
Schedule & Logistics
Arrival: Students and chaperones must arrive at school no later than 5:30 am. Please drop off students in the 6th grade carline.
Departure: The bus will depart promptly at 6:00 am.
Return: The students will return back to CWMS at approximately 4:30-5pm. Students should be picked up at the 6th grade carline
Meals: Breakfast: Served at school before departure.
Lunch: A packed lunch will be provided by the cafeteria. If you prefer to bring your own, it must be in a clearly labeled, disposable bag.
Restriction: Please do not bring sodas or energy drinks.
Chaperone Requirements
Approval Status: All chaperones must be Level 2 approved by Wilkes County Schools. This status requires a completed background check specifically for the current school year. At this time, we have all of the chaperones that are needed, and no other chaperones are required on the trip.
Logistics: Chaperones must provide their own transportation and meet our group at school at 5:30 am to receive your ticket.
Chaperones may leave Biltmore when their group of students are safely loaded back on the bus. Please see your child’s homeroom teacher to sign them out before leaving.
Conduct & Expectations
Supervision: Students must remain with their assigned chaperone and group at all times.
Behavior: All Central Wilkes Middle School rules and policies remain in effect. Failure to follow schoolwide expectations will result in the student staying with a school adult for the duration of the trip, with further consequences upon returning to school.
Courtesy: Please be respectful to Biltmore staff and other guests at all times.
Movement: Walking only. No running or horseplay is permitted on the grounds or inside the hallways.
Biltmore House Policies
Inside the House: Use "museum voices" (low, quiet volume) at all times.
Preservation: Do not touch any furniture, wallpaper, or artifacts.
Photography: Personal photos are allowed, but flash photography and video recording are strictly prohibited inside the house.
Prohibited Items: No food, drinks, or gum are allowed inside the house.
Bags: Backpacks and large bags must be left on the bus.https://curriculum.characterstrong.com/
Merchandise shops and restaurants at Biltmore are cashless and only accept credit and debit cards. Apple Pay, Visa Gift Cards, or Biltmore Gift Cards. We have installed cash to card machines on the estate. One in the carriage section of Biltmore House and one at Antler Hill Village. There is no fee in this machine for the transfer.
Personal Items & Technology
Footwear: Wear comfortable walking shoes, as this trip involves significant amounts of walking.
Electronics: * Phones: Must be silenced away during the guided tour.
Other Devices: Video games, tablets, computers, and other electronic devices are prohibited.
Responsibility: Central Wilkes Middle School is not responsible for any lost or damaged personal items. Families are fully responsible for locating lost property items while on the trip.
