Box Tops for Education!

CWMS homerooms are having a competition to see which homeroom can collect the most box tops by October 5th. The winning homeroom will receive a visit to Central Perk or the Ice Cream Truck! Box Tops are an easy way to show your support for our school! Cut them out and send them in anytime of the year.

Mrs. Kendal Privette, 2018-2019 Teacher of the Year

Mrs. Privette has taught seventh and eighth grade language arts and social studies in Wilkes County for more than twenty years. Her favorite aspect of Central Wilkes Middle School is its diversity, and her favorite attribute in a student is curiosity. She is an avid reader and runner and is active in a local church. Her two sons, Hank and Jack both graduated from Wilkes Central, and her husband, Chris is a local wood worker.

CWMS Students Win at James Larkin Pearson Poetry Competition

CWMS students won all the top middle school awards at the First James Larkin Pearson Poetry Competition at Whippoorwill Academy and Village. Judge Bud Caywood chose the winners from poetry written by students from Wilkes and Caldwell Counties. Eighth grader Lyndsey J won 1st and 2nd place, Meagan B. won 3rd. Honorable mentions for middle school went to Jennifer G., Payton M., Brianna A., and Vincent L. Kendal Privette, eighth grade teacher at CWMS, promoted the poetry contest and collected the poetry for submission.
